Water Cooler Talk | Swimming with Sharks and Graphic Art
The latest office chatter will inspire you to get graphic and get down.
Governor’s Island- There’s a great exhibition going on at Governor’s Island right now called Graphic Design: Now in Production. It’s free and so is the ferry ride there! It showcases a variety of current graphic design in various mediums today, from interactive design, branding, books, typography and TV graphics. It is curated by the Cooper Hewitt Museum. It’s very well-rounded and a personal favorite was seeing all the Google title animations on loop. Posters from M/M Paris give a fashion lean to the exhibit as well.
The Standard Hotel- When we feel like letting loose on a Saturday, Swimming with Sharks at The Standard Hotel Downtown is our party of choice. Our DJ friends spin dance music at the rooftop pool while we swim, drink and dance until the summer sun sets against the DTLA skyline—it’s the next best thing to a day partying on the beach.
Pro tip: resident photog Tommy B captures all the debauchery. So while it’s fun to wile out in broad daylight, we always come styled head-to-toe and stay on our best behavior. Come Monday morning, we’re proud to share our pics.
