LA Anywhere | Take a Hike
For a place where no one walks, they sure love to hike. Explore California’s cliffs to Surrey’s rolling hills.
We’ve all heard that nobody walks in LA, but what’s also true is that Angelenos love to hike. One of the most gorgeous hiking spots in the city is in Topanga Canyon. Known for having a bit of hippie flair and breathtaking views of California’s cliffside, a hike through Topanga will soothe your soul from the inside out. Start in the Topanga Canyon State park located in The Pacific Palisades and choose between the Santa Ynez Falls trail that ends at a waterfall, or the hike to Trippet Ranch and Eagle Rock. Also, climb to Temescal Peak for 360 views of the Pacific from one of the highest points in the Santa Monica Mountains. The scenery cannot be beat.
New York: Unlike their West Coast counterparts, New Yorkers are applauded for their ample time spent on foot. However, it’s done amidst the hustle and bustle of honking cabs and hundreds of other harried individuals. They long for fresh air, trees and a few rolling hills! Just hop in the car or on the train and head about forty minutes north of Manhattan to Bear Mountain for an afternoon of hiking. It’s the perfect challenging hike that will still leave you with enough energy for a stroll around nearby artist’s town Cold Spring.
London: Similar to New Yorkers, Londoners log countless hours of city walking, and have even more of a selection when looking for something a bit more surrounded by nature. A favorite area of outstanding natural beauty, Box Hill, requires a visit. A summery sunny day is ideal for making the most of the stunning views, orchids and rare butterflies as your companions. The rolling Surrey Hills create the perfect backdrop for a classic English picnic—Jane Austen style!
