Jet Set | La Jolla
It’s no secret why this San Diego beach town’s name means “the jewel.”
La Jolla, California is a European resort town located in Southern California; with its picturesque coastline, perfect sandy beaches and upscale surf flair, it’s easy to see why. While it’s reminiscent of Laguna, and a lot like LA, La Jolla offers a unique coastline that sets it apart from, well, anywhere else in the world. If, or let’s say when, you make it down to this SoCal slice of paradise keep this guide in your back pocket.
Stay at La Valencia. Promise we’re not partial to this beach-side beauty just because she’s known as “the pink lady,” but more-so because of her old world charm. Standing since the 1920′s, this hotel housed Hollywood royalty when they needed an escape from the city. Make sure to set aside plenty of time for a meal at The Skyroom: the views are so stunning, we found it near impossible to focus on anything but The Cove.
Play with Hike Bike Kayak if you want to see sea lions, dolphins, seals and birds. We suggest taking the Sea Cave Tour when you’re in the mood for fun and the Sunset Kayak when you’re looking for love.
Swim in La Jolla Cove or at La Jolla Shores. Between the palm-tree lined coast, the sea animals swimming up to shore and the Cormorant-lined cliffs, it doesn’t get much more scenic than this.
See a show at La Jolla Playhouse. This non-profit, professional theater was founded in by Gregory Peck, Dorothy McGuire, and Mel Ferrer in 1947. They still put on a fantastic range of shows and events, like Foodie Fridays with food trucks, theater and beer.
We’d be surprised if after one visit La Jolla doesn’t trump your list of getaway spots, like it has ours.
