Get to Know | Guest Editor Kyle Anderson

Meet our very first guest editor, Marie Claire Accessories Director Kyle Anderson.

Mr. Blonde Ambition recently spent New York Fashion Week covering upwards of two show per hour, while still squeezing in time to film webisodes about his fabulous fashion life and pose for the many pics on his blog, KyleEditor. If you were also wondering how he manages to fit so many looks in one day, we discovered that he lives near Times Square, which makes for easy costume changes. Genius! Kyle attributes his ability to keep up his crazy pace to Starbucks and spends lots of time with fashion pal, Bryanboy. The two often go on appointments together and download the day over dinner.

For those who already know and love Kyle, you’re well aware that the only thing to rival his Givenchy obsession might be his Ben & Jerry’s obsession.  And, for those of you who don’t know and love him just yet, keep reading, it’s just a matter of time….

JC: Have you always been interested in fashion? At what point did you realize you wanted to make a career in the fashion industry?

KA: Yes, since before elementary school. I never wanted toys, only clothes. My life revolved around magazines, fashion and shopping. It was an escape even as a child. I was gay and grew up in a small town. Magazines were a huge escape for me.

JC: Where do you find daily inspiration for dressing and life in general?

KA: I’m inspired by mixing runway with more rock & roll street pieces. I get fashion ideas from people on the street and when I’m traveling—I travel a lot for work. I’m in Milan now.

JC: Can you describe your personal style in less than five words?

KA: Black, rock, sexy, young, cool.

JC: How do you maintain your energy and enthusiasm after three weeks of fashion shows?

KA: Starbucks. And I’m obsessed with seeing new cool things. It never ends. My boss Nina Garcia inspires our department; she has a huge passion for accessories. My bf inspires me. He keeps me grounded and looks after me.

JC: Talk to us about your Givenchy nose ring.

KA: Ha! It’s a “faux piercing” so no commitment. I love punk accessories right now.

JC: What’s the must have accessory any gal should have this fall?

KA: The basics: Silver chunky jewelry. Love chain links. Black booties that go with everything. A black structured carryall bag. For evening, again big metal jewelry or colorful funky neon pieces. It’s a lot of black right now but fall always brings black.

JC: Do you have any de-stressing rituals?

KA: Yes, I go to spas a lot. Massages at hotel spas like the Trump Soho or the Aire Ancient Baths. Also shopping relaxes me. Ben and Jerry’s and reality TV.

JC: What’s your latest non-fashion obsession?

KA: Massages, body scrubs, Ben and Jerry’s oatmeal cookie ice cream, KoreanBBQ, iced chai lattes.

JC: Tell us something unusual about yourself that has nothing to do with fashion?

KA: I studied in Korea for almost three years. I speak Korean pretty well and love Korean pop music. My hair is insured for $10,000.

JC: A-mazing!
